Three phases shaped the man I am today.
The first phase was the sports phase. Swimming, surfing, cycling and tennis were and still are part of my life. From an early age I learned a lot from sports, especially about discipline and perseverance. It was through surfing that I started traveling. This experience made me see the world through a systemic perspective.
The second phase of my life was the academic phase. Sociology, Law, Environmental Law, History, Cinema gave me the necessary tools to first understand and then challenge the crystallized structures taken as absolute truths.
The third stage and perhaps the most important of all was the stage where I left my comfort zone to live and grow. Modeling began without pretense at the age of eighteen but it was only after my academic life that I became a professional model.
My career started really at the age of twenty-eight in Europe. The proximity to the fashion universe in Europe made me learn a lot and also reflect on the textile history of Latin America.
The beautiful memories of the clothes and accessories I saw during my surf trips across the Latin American continent during my early twenties made me return from Europe to start an extensive research on the Latin American fashion system.
After years of research I founded the production company PLUS Art Films and created the film project MODA.DOC América Latina. What started as a dream with some collaborators became a television series for the channel FASHION TV.
MODA.DOC América Latina has more than a decade of hard work. Work that could have been carried out by important film producers or important fashion magazines. But it arose from the initiative of a model.
Today I feel happy and grateful for my modeling career. Through this job I was able to see more of the world, to educate myself and also be part of a global movement for ethics in fashion.
I believe in good, in sustainable development, in a better world. Fashion can and should be a force for good. It sure needs sustainable values. Fashion is more than just design and business.
PLUS Art Films was born to tell emotional and sensory stories designed to spark and inspire debate. INFORMATION IS THE KEY TO TRANSFORMATION. It's nice to see that more and more people are concerned about the future of fashion.
The biodiversity and plurality of Latin America has tremendous value in the world to come. The continent's textile history dates back more than five thousand years. Traditional design and contemporary design can be a wonderful combination.
Interviewing so many designers, artisans, journalists and college professors made me more knowledgeable. I am aware that I still have a lot more to learn. That’s the reason why I decided to start a post graduation course in Fashion Law.
I believe that as a professional I can join efforts to create a healthier planet. For me, doing what I love most surrounded by nature and with people who inspire me to be better is success and wealth. Life is energy and matter. Energy is eternal.
MODA.DOC América Latina is a documentary series in television format that present people who think and make fashion. The objective of the project is to promote ethical fashion and sustainable development. The film project was created and directed by Rodrigo Müller.
